Best Parent Ever !!!!!!!!
Okay, so I stumbled across this site and promptly spend an hour reading everything on it. I LAUGHED SO HARD. Like, with tears. It's a run down of everything the mythical Best Parent Ever does, including buying $1000 strollers, using shopping cart covers, having parenting coaches, whatever. In my mind, most of the Best Parents Ever have more money than sense, and have read one too many parenting books.
Does it not sometimes seem that people are way more obsessed with the idea of parenting, rather than the action? One of my biggest life annoyances are people who talk about doing things, and plan things, but forget to actually do it. Want to be a good parent? Just go be a parent. Stop with the fretting and the Internet searching and the wondering about unschooling/babywearing/politics of parenting. Just do the best you can, and I promise your child won't end up terribly screwed. I can guarantee that our mothers never worried about how early they could introduce flash cards to us, or how to throw the biggest birthday party that no one will remember.
But I'm totally guilty of it too. I stress about how much face time Addison gets, if the activities we do are educational enough or if I should take her to the museum more often. But at the end of the day, whether we ran through the sprinkler or studied early American history, Addison will be happiest with someone to give her cup of milk and read her a story and send her off the bed with a kiss, and won't for one minute wish for a mom who bought her a snazzy Britax car seat, because really, she doesn't care.
And neither does any other child on the face of the planet. Lets keep it all in perspective here. In the eyes of your child, you're probably doing a really awesome job- even without the bells and whistles.

Oh my gosh, this was hilarious. I especially loved the one about Growth Charts being a competitive sport. I'm quite happy with my little 40th percentile children, thank you very much.
Thanks for the laugh!
